CICS Assures McCain Foods’ Emissions Data
CICS has recently carried out independent assurance of McCain Foods’ CO2 emissions, waste movements and water consumption and discharge rates.
Committed to making their business sustainable, McCain, one of the world’s leading frozen food companies, has been working closely with ‘Business in the Community (BitC), the UK’s largest business membership organisation committed to corporate responsibility.
In order to enhance the credibility and to add assurance to the numbers reported, McCain engaged CICS to independently verify their data. In addition to giving stakeholders confidence in the data, independent verification ensures the accurate production of emission levels, thereby enabling identification of where energy can be reduced.
CICS also verified records of waste movements as they left the site as well as water consumption and water discharge figures. Independent assurance will enable McCain to establish a benchmark should water footprinting, whether on a voluntary basis or as part of future legal compliance, be introduced.
