Reliable, transparent and accurate CO2 reporting and verification under ANSI accreditation.
The goal of the Climate Registry is to provide an accurate, complete, consistent, transparent and verified set of greenhouse gas emissions data supported by a robust reporting and verification infrastructure. Through this effort, the Registry encourages early action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and supports future greenhouse gas reduction efforts across North America.
CICS was one of the first verification bodies to be awarded ANSI (American National Standards Institute) accreditation under the Climate Registry scheme.
As one of the leading global emissions verifiers, CICS provides pragmatic cost-effective verification using experienced local GHG verifiers. Additionally CICS has specialist lead verifiers for the power generation sector.
By July 2009, CICS was already the chosen verifier for over 20% of the sites having their 2008 emissions verified under TCR.
CCAR emissions inventory reporting will eventually transfer to the sister organisation, the Climate Registry (TCR). In the meantime reporters under CCAR will have their emissions verified under their own reporting protocol.
CICS are an ANSI accredited verifier under the California Climate Action Registry scheme and offer pragmatic cost-effective verification using experienced local GHG verifiers.
The California Climate Action Registry has created standardized approaches which define verification processes to promote completeness, comparability, accuracy and transparency of emissions data. Activities for each specific verification will differ based on the length and complexity of a participant’s emission report.
Upon completion of the verification process, the Registry will also review the data before accepting a participants verified emission report into its database. This process is repeated every year of an organization's participation in the Registry.
The CCAR is now just one part of the umbrella organization the Climate Action Reserve (CAR). The prime focus of the CAR is to monitor and verify projects which reduce or remove GHG from the environment. CICS will be offering project verification services from early 2010.
